About the Artist

Pauline Johnson’s nature-inspired art is motivated by the peaceful Tasmanian landscape and skies. Her oil paintings invite you on a tranquil journey, taking you away from the hustle of and bustle of the big cities. The viewer will be transported by the vibrant colour, light, and texture. Her landscapes and skies are more about the feelings evoked than about describing a specific place.

After graduating with a B. of Visual Arts in Queensland in 1995, Pauline continues to study with master artist in the USA and Australia.

Since moving to Hobart in 2015, she has painted in oils, to capture the pristine wilderness and beaches. However, it is the stunning sunsets that stirs her the most. The myriad of colours that create the abstract shapes of the clouds gives her the freedom to explore her pallet which generates paintings that glow.

Pauline Johnson has won many awards including First Prize -Brisbane Art Academy 2013. - Highly Commended -Huon Art Awards 2024; Sorell Regional Art Prize 2018, Kingborough Art Award 2017.
